Life at Country Crest

Are there recreational and educational programs?

One of the benefits of Country Crest is our extensive range of educational and recreational activities. We provide lectures, music, art, movies, entertainment, health and wellness programs, gardening groups and many other programs. In addition, residents of Country Crest are entitled to a free membership at the Oroville Sports Club, which has a pool, fitness center, personal trainers, fitness classes and more.

Can my grandchildren visit?

Guests of any age are always welcome at Country Crest.

Can guests stay overnight?

Your apartment at Country Crest is your home, where you can entertain overnight guests if you wish. There are also guest rooms available at a nominal fee if your visitors need more privacy.

Is there a place where my bridge group or book club could meet?

Country Crest has areas for reading, socializing or throwing a private dinner party. Our life enrichment program conducts many classes and special interest groups that you may wish to join, though your own group is welcome to meet in any of the available commons areas.

What happens in the event that I need more services?

Country Crest has a healthcare center on-site and a nurse on the property 24 hours a day if you need medical attention. The Resident Assistance Program provides a menu of services tailored to your needs and provided in your apartment. You pay only for the services you need. For a more serious illness or to recover from surgery, your entrance fee provides for up to 20 days per year at the healthcare center in which you would pay only ancillary charges. Should you need continuing skilled nursing, you may move to the Country Crest Health Center.

Can I keep my family doctor?

Yes. You can certainly keep your doctor.

What is the Health Center?

Country Crest's Health Center is the first of its kind in the state of California, created to break away from the institutional design of the past. Hospice and in-house therapies are available to enhance the quality of life. Respectful and compassionate nursing care is provided 24 hours a day. Alzheimer’s and dementia care are available and feature a secure garden and pathways to allow residents freedom to enjoy the outdoors.

Will the monthly fee always stay the same?

The monthly fee may increase as the cost of providing services increases. Country Crest is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community, which means rates are set to meet expected expenses.

If I am served only one meal per day, where do I get my other meals?

Your apartment at Country Crest has a fully equipped kitchen so that you can prepare your own meals. Alternatively, you can purchase additional meals from our restaurant-style menus, which you can eat in the dining room or take out.

Can I invite guests to meals?

Your guests are welcome in our dining room; these extra meals will have a nominal fee.

Will I be able to continue my special diet?

We offer a wide variety of options to allow you to make healthy choices. Meals are carefully prepared and chef supervised.

What about furniture, carpet, drapes and appliances?

You can furnish your apartment as you like. We provide a frost-free refrigerator/freezer, range and oven, dishwasher, disposal, microwave, wall-to-wall carpeting and window coverings. There are washers and dryers in many units and several convenient free laundry rooms throughout the building.

What security measures are in place?

You and your apartment will be protected by our emergency response system.

Why pay an entrance fee for Continuing Care?

The entrance fee provides residents with access to their apartment, use of community amenities and guaranteed priority access to all healthcare services. With this entrance fee, residents receive 20 days of nursing care each year and pay only ancillary charges.

Is any portion of my entrance fee or monthly service fee tax deductible?

Yes. The Internal Revenue Services considers portions of both fees allocated to healthcare as acceptable deductions. Please consult a tax professional to determine the deductions you may take.

What if I have a medical emergency?

Each residence is equipped with an emergency response system.

Can I bring my pet?

Of course. Pets are encouraged and welcomed at Country Crest.

Is there parking for my car?

There is ample free parking for residents and visitors.
