Bob Thoe
Bob lived all over the country during his multiple careers in the military and the aerospace industry. He could have chosen anyplace to retire, but he chose Oroville and Country Crest. His love of the physical beauty of the area is evident as he talks about the view from the expansive windows of his home. "I got involved with Country Crest when it was still a dream. From my apartment I see great sunsets and have views of Table Mountain, Sutter's Butte and the Coastal Range."
Bob knew early on that he wanted to live in a community like Country Crest that offers continuing care, including care for Alzheimer's. Bob was caring for his wife with the disease. He is on his own now, but still appreciates the comfort and security a continuing care program offers its residents. Bob really appreciates the services such as dining, housekeeping and not having to worry about house maintenance anymore. He loves the extended serving hours and the numerous menu choices at each meal.
Flexibility in services is important to Bob because he's still got that restless spirit that he's been honing all his life. He has taken advantage of the complimentary membership to the Oroville Sports Club for fitness and strength training, walks the Oro Dam with friends, joined a writer's group and served as president of the Country Crest Resident Association for two years. Not all of his activities center around Country Crest, though. There is still time for his annual trip to Norway, the land of his ancestors and home of his son. Bob adds with a smile, "The best part of my trip is coming home to my wonderful friends at Country Crest!"
